Chanel CHANEL N°5 new perfume ad film I #theonethatiwant | THOUGHTS

The iconic Chanel  N°5, model Gisele Bündchen, director of "The Great Gatsby" Baz Luhrmann and Michiel Huisman (a guy from Game of Thrones), water, surfing and kids? Sounds like a crazy mix, right? When I've seen new Chanel advertisement film I was feeling that it is just sooo much not-like Chanel no 5.
The surfing and water reminded me of fresh scents, children of floral notes... everything seemed to be so much not-on-place. I was trudly disappointed. You can see on my post about my favourite perfume ads that I love Chanel no 5 films, so I really had some high hopes for this one.

But you know what? I've changed my mind completely and now I think this ad is just perfect. First, watch it and then I'll explain why.

The thing is- Chanel no 5 is not anymore a perfume. It is a definition of a "modern" woman. And this woman is changing. 10 years later in ad with Nicole Kidman it was a different woman... now this woman is able to have a family, free time and job, but as it often happens nowaday- have a little trouble of finding balance between these things. The perfume is just a background, it doesn't show you it's fragnance by pictures (like it happens with other perfumes)- this one is completely different. And you must think different.

What is great that Chanel made 7 behind the scenes videos (which are actually greatly done too). These videos really changed my perspective of looking on that ad. I really recommend watching all seven- every single one shows the ad from different perspective (the cast, costume design, director, locations, fragrance song and just "introduction" to all: behind the scenes <the one below>).

It is so nice to see how passionate Buz Lurhmann is about the whole proces of filming (he appears on the advertisement too). Giselle does her job very well- her acting and showing emotions without words is suprisingly good. The song- well, I had no idea that I knew this song 'till I've watched the video about it. It is a cover of Grease song, but made witch so much class... (and a little update: I can't get enough of this song, it is sooo addictingly good!).
But what I find funny is that guy from Game of Thrones thing- it is a new trend that GoT actors take part in perfume advertising? When I've been on Sephora last time I saw a big advertisement of Jimmy Choo perfume and I was like "what is Jon Snow doing here, he knows nothing!"... well, maybe he knows something about perfumes? :)

My top 5 perfume advertisements

Perfume advertisement is an interesting form of a movie. Usually the ads are very sexual, trying to show the essence of the fragrance (if the perfume is supposed to be sensual/sexy/fascinating- and in most cases it is supposed to be like that). But sometimes big fashion companies try something different... try to create the story behind the fregnance, or do something completly different.
Here is my personal top 5 (well, actually 4) of my favourite perfume advertisements.

5. Oriflame- Possess
I'm not a big fan of Oriflame fragnances, but recently I've seen an interesting ad for their new perfume- Posess inspired by Cleopatra. I would say this is typical "feel" ad- it shows the essence of perfume, the "feel" of it (as I mentioned before- it's kind of this typical sensual kind of ad). It doesn't tell a story, but I guess it's well done and has a nice twist-end.

4. Chanel- Chanel no 5 (with Audrey Tautou)
There is something on the whole mood of this ad that makes you not want it to end. Great work of creating interesting feel/story without using any words.

3. Chanel- Chanel no 5 (with Nicole Kidman)
Even though this is Chanel no 5 too, this is way different then ad with Audrey Tattou. This one is actually has some story and words. What is great about it is that it just gives only a few clues for a viever- you must guess the rest. Good job, Chanel!

2. Dior- L.A.dy (with Marion Cotillard)
I was tricked into thinking that this is a perfume commercial (but obviously it is a bag commercial... but it is on this list because I've figured it out while writing this post and it is awesome ad to share, so.. just go watch it :P

1. Dolce&Gabbana- Dolce
Somehow this is so weird (in a good way!) ad. Just very simple, sweet and cute. But I guess that is what makes it my number one. Just a different, lovely ad.

Let me know what are your favourite ads in a comment section below and remember to follow me on bloglovin! :)

How to prevent aging (part 2)

On my previous post of my little guide I showed you the most basic stuff you can do to prevent aging. Now, let's get a little bit more into some details and talk about preventing your face aging (besides of sunscreen that was a basic on the last post).

MAKEUP REMOVAL #1: It is very VERY VEEEERY important to remove makeup before going to sleep. And by removing I mean really deeply removing makeup. Sometimes after cleaning your face you can't see any makeup- but if you try to wash your face again with removal tissues or something like that you can see that there is still some foundation or other product. OK, but you may ask how that affects skin aging? During sleeping your skin regenerates- all stuff that is left on your face will majorly block that process which in the long run can lead to weaker skin and deeper wrinkles.

MAKEUP REMOVAL #2: Yup, makeup removal again! Seems like makeup removal is actually quite dangerous thing to do ;). When you remove your makeup- especially eye makeup be super gentle! This area is super delicate, so if you rub it hard you are actually damaging your skin and make it more vulnerable to have waaaay more wrinkles way faster. Invest in good makeup removal that is delicate for eyes, but still strong enought so you could just hold a pad with it and then easily take off any makeup left (for me Bioderma Sensibio, Nivea Two-phase or now just coconout oil works quite well for that. Yes, I'm using waterproof mascara).

IGNORING A NECK AREA: This is actually pretty popular issue. You use your moistruiser, cleanser or other skincare product and just ignore your neck area. But imagine something- you have young face, but old looking neck. It is not looking good, right? Neck area (and chin too) are places that get loose quite fast- by taking care of it you can prevent wrinkly-double-chin and contrast between your face and neck.

So, this is part two of my little guide, stay tuned for more and follow my on Bloglovin to be informed about new posts!

Benefit Crescent Row Under My Spell Noelle review

I once spent like a looong time on Sephora trying to find perfume that would suit me (after my "breakup" with Christina Aguilera's "By Night" which I loved at the beginning but with time I just hated because of that "chemical" scent). After spending a lot of time trying to find something for myself in my budget I asked for help. The consultant asked me what I'm looking for. My answer was "something not flowery-fruity-sweet, but quite dark, intensive and oriental". She looked at me strangely and said that it is rather hard to find something like this for a girl in my age (yup, everywhere I go people think I am 13-15 years old girl. Hey, I'm 19 years old pre-pro opera singer, I sometimes must be classy and woman-like, not always girly girl like!).
She has showed me some of Benefit's fragrances. There she showed me Noelle and it was exactly what I wanted!

Now I've been using this for a year (year and one or two months? Something like that), so I through it is good idea to show you what I think about it.

OK, TIME FOR REVIEW:

Crescent Row is fragrance line from Benefit. All of the scents are named with a girl name. The room on a package is supposed to represent the character of the perfume. The bottles are inspired by cocktail shakers.

I must admit that the package is super impressive. This perfume has "VIP entrance" outside with windows and doors. You can clearly see there that luxurious feel. What is great- when you open the package there is "inside" of it, exactly what you've seen outside, but without mirrors and doors, it's like you are in that VIP area and a part of it is the perfume. Pretty cool design idea!

Also, on the back of the package there is "poem" description of it:

noelle entices & intrigues
she’s the toast of the town

the essence of mystery
in her divine velvet lounge

so glamorous & exotic
she’s sure to beguile

all in her presence
“long to linger awhile.”

Now for the fragnance itself: the notes (from Benefit's website)

Top notes: cardamom, black pepper, lingonberry
Middle notes: wild orchid, jasmine petals, vanilla flower, fresh rose, soft violet
Bottom notes: patchouli, accord oud, black amber, vanilla beans, benzoin resin, raspberry

I don't have such "trained" nose to smell all this stuff, but this is how I would describe it: It is quite strong fragrance. Just after applying it is easy to smell pepper and all that "heaviness" of it. It is very oriental and "choking" (and what is unfortunately sad about it- after few months it gets sooo too much "choking" that it is hard to use it). It gets a bit "sweeter" later, but don't get me wrong- there is no sign of true sweetness on it, it's just not as heavy as it was.

What is very suprising: it's eau de toilette but yet it lasts HOURS! I would say you would not expect that from EDT, but this one really stays on for very long time which is quite impressive! Howether I feel like with time it is more "close to skn" fragnance then very loud one smellable for miles away from you. But I guess that's normal... and probably a good thing, because it would be so strange to feel someone's perfumes from miles! ;)

The amount I got was 30ml (I guess they have only 30ml and 10ml for special boxes where are like two or more of Benefit's fragnances). I wasn't saving it at all and used almost everyday for a year and I still have  like 1/4 or 1/3 of it (the drawback of the bottle is that you can't really see how much is left).

Be aware- this is not one of fragnences that everyone likes. Because it's so heavy and intensive not everyone will like it- I heard compliments from people who really like this kind of perfumes, but once I heard a question "what smells like strange, intensive soap?!". Yup. It was me. I showed this girl my Noelle and as far I remembered she said that it smells like incense (which is quite accurate according to it's "chokingness" <is there even such a word? :P>). So if you prefer flowery or fruity fragnances- it's rather not for you.

I must admit i really liked it for a few months. But then it just started being irritating (probably due to it's heaviness, HOWETHER I haven't smelled that "chemical" stuff with it like I felt with Aguilera's fragnance ). I was still using it, but now it's just a moment when I can't use it at all and now I'm waiting for my package with more girly-like fragnance :)

So, if you look for fragnance that is long-lasting, heavy and oriental this one might be perfect for you!

Rating: 7+/10
Nice stuff: long lasting, great package and bottle design
Bad stuff: gets too heavy to wear after a few months, not everyone will like it
Would I recommend buying: only if you like heavy oriental fragnances

How to prevent aging (part 1)

This is my part one of my "how to prevent aging" little guide. Enjoy! :)

Nowadays everyone wants to look their best all the time. All that plastic surgerys, anti-age cremes, botox and other stuff... this is just global madness. And what is actually an issue- people usually try to MAKE themself younger, but haven't really did anything to prevent that when they were still young.

So, beware young and old (because why not) people, here is the ultimate guide for staying young long ages!

SUNSCREEN. This is probably one of the most important products if you want to prevent wrinkles and general aging of your skin. Why? Because being exposed to the Sun (UV light) destroys the structure of your skin. Getting tan is actually damaging your skin- this is why your skin gets darker- it is natural process of protecting you from exposure to UV light. Popular makeup artists like Lisa Eldridge or Wayne Goss agree that it is just ESSENTIAL to use SPF.
It is not only about tanning- your skin is exposed to UV light all day all year, so it is really important to use sunscreen. A lot of companies add sunscreen to foundations, BB creams or other products, so if you don't like to use sunscreen, try to find something that contain SPF.

SMOKING. We all know that smoking is not healhy for health (logic :P  ). But it is also super bad for your inside and outside "aging". Inside- well, you just destroying your lungs and other organs. For beauty- weak, yellow teeth is not only one problem. Smoking really makes the skin weak, grey and tired. It is just easy way to make yourself age soooo much faster. So, stay away from it!

ALCOHOL. Try to make an experiment <or just search for it on youtube>. An egg + alcohol. Egg white is made of proteine. Human skin is made of proteine (+ water + fat). So, now you see how it works <and when something works from inside it's even worst>. It's absolutely OK to drink a glass of wine from time to time or something like that (if you are in age to do this!), but drinking alcohol often can really make your skin look bad and age even faster. I don't even have to mention the inside part of how alcohol works.

So, this is part one of my little guide, stay tuned for more!

Manhattan Pastell Pretties Cheek & Eye Cream review

Manhattan Cheek & Eye Cream is one of the products of limited Pastel Pretties series. Howether I found it online for low price- actually in lots of online stores. Because the photos of one (really: ONE) shade had range from intensive red to soft pink (yes, the same shade, but just on different photos) I was quite confused, so decided to bought two colors 01 Tulipster and 02 Call Me Rosemary.

First of all- the colors aren't so scary red as you might through. It's like liquid cheek tint- looks red on the package, but pink on cheeckbones. Which is good- unless you want super-extra-blood-cheeck-awkward-something then no, this product is definitely not for you :P

I woudn't say that this is for Cheek & Eye. I tried both colors on my eyelids- in a moment most of cream transfered into my crease making horrible line. To make the color actually seenable I had to use a lot of product, so it might be that, or just an issue of a formula.

I would say this product is only „Cheek cream”- and it works fine IF you have clear cheeckbone area. If you have acne, acne scars or something like that- it will destroy your foundation and concealler effort. As I've mentioned before you must use a lot of product.

And then it comes to blending which is fine, but must be done with fingers- the pigmentation is not super high, it dries quickly and this cream doesn't really work with any kind of blush brush.

It is a little bit different if you have cler skin, or just clear cheeckbone area- this might be good product for someone that is on rush and just want fastly give some „life” to face. Then fast application with fingers and natural finish should be great.

Of course, there is some major flaw- it disappears very fast. Re-application during a day is a must and I think more than once (whoooa, I just realized that I've just accidentally made ridiculous make-up rap, haha). Keep in midn that on cheeck it will not crease or make some „dirt effect”, but just disappear into nothing. If it doesn't bother you to re-apply it during a day you may like it!

The colors itself are very soft, light shade of pink. As you can see on the photo there are two different shades, but after blending they look almost the same. Call Me Rosemary is just slightly darker, but it is not very noticable difference.

There is also one more thing to say- one of my blushes just separated from the package. Sure, a little bit of glue should fix it, but it shoudn't happen with new product.

If you have clear skin, don't expect very long lasting product, but want something light and natural-looking with a bit of glowy finish- you may try it. But rather only as cheeck blisher.

Rating: 5/10
Good stuff: natural looking; soft, pretty colors; glowy, healthy effect, low price
Bad stuff: not very much pigmentation; not good for places with acne/acne scars; doesn't last long

Would I recommend buying: Maybe

Essence Smoky Eyes Brush review

When I first started doing makeup I bought a brush set with a lot of brushes- but all of eyeshadows brushes were flat! But still with some help from fingers I managed to blend the shadows. But there came that mysterious day of "I neeeed aaa bleendiiing bruuuush". And so I did.

OK, now for the review:

The brush is made of synthetic hair. I recon it's dyed because the color fades away a little bit from the hair when you wash it, but it's not a problem because it is not affecting application (yup, your eyes are safe from purple eyes. Unless you do Frozen-Elsa-kind-of-look, but you need to use purple eyeshadow anyway :P ).
I washed it few times and haven't noticed any hair loss which is a BIG plus!

The hand of the brush is made of plastic and the hair are hold by metal (or a plastic quite close to metal, it's hard to tell)- because of that it's really light. If you like heavy brushed that you want to "feel" this one might not be for you.

As for product with synthetic hair it's quite soft, but- not softest of brushes. I bought it for something like 2£ / 3$ so for this cheap price I can forgive not being super-extra-HD-awesome soft. Howether it's easy to blend with this, it doesn't "eat" the product, but just make your makeup easy.

So, if you want to buy blending brush for low price- go for it! Especially if you are newbie in makeup- usually blending brush is all what you need for basic eyeshadow application!

Rating: 8+/10
Nice stuff: low price, good quality
Bad stuff: color from hair can fade away a bit, it is not super soft
Would I recommend buying: yes!

Please comment and let me know if you have any suggestions,

So it began!

So... you probably don't know me, but I know you. Really!... OK, I don't. But! You probably like makeup. Or something makeup-related? Maybe? Um... that was creepy. Let's start again :)

This was a little introduction of my awkward humour that you will see quite frequently on this blog. I through it would be nice to do reviews of products as some kind of extension to my youtube channel which I'm presenting to you right now:

Well, actually this is only one of my videos. But there are more on my channel, so check it out! Usually I add some awkward humour to my videos- especially on the end when the makeup is done, so... WAIT! You are still reading this?! What are you waiting for, check out my channel... umm.. you can stay here too actually... well I would be really glad if you would do that too.

But you will come back, right? :P
